The seeker’s path
The Itzachilatlan lineage presents an ascending design of four, seven, nine and thirteen days over four years, whenever possible without interruption. The support family remains at camp throughout the ceremony.
Preparing for the mountain
- Present the leader with a bag of pipe tobacco during the protocol meeting.
- Prepare 365 tobacco prayers using cotton cloth and thread in the corresponding direction color.
- Prepare seven staffs and seven cloth mantles in the colors of the directions.
- Wear natural-fiber clothing, warm layers and mountain footwear.
Fasting, altitude and weather exposure require personal assessment and preparation. Disclose health conditions in advance.
